Mark was born and raised in Richmond Hill where his family has been active in the local business community. Mark graduated from Richmond Hill High School. He went on to obtain a BA from York University in 1989 and a LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1992.
His main interest in law concern small family business and real estate development. Mark began his legal career with a firm which provided specialized services to Municipalities in Municipal and Planning Law. He then went on to become an associate lawyer and later partner with an established Richmond Hill firm where his areas of practice included Real Estate, Wills and Estates Law, Small Business Commercial Law, Construction and Construction Lien Law, and Municipal and Planning Law.
Outside of the practice of Law Mark served in the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve for ten years, primarily as an Officer in a Light Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment. Mark is also a member and officer of a number of Historical and Genealogical Organizations including, The United Empire Loyalists? Association of Canada, The Ontario Genealogical Association and New England Historical and Genealogical Association. In addition Mark has promoted the importance of business in contributing to the welfare of others by his membership and involvement with the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill. Rotary is an International Organization which promotes high ethical standards in business and professionals as well as providing support to many charitable causes.
